Curry pastes
I love the Thai red curry paste recipe in the new Everyday cookbook! Home made curry pastes taste so fresh and delicious and keep for a few weeks in the fridge or you can freeze it in ice cube trays for ready to use portions. If you have a premade curry paste you can whip up a quick curry in about 20 minutes. Quicker, healthier and cheaper than take away!
Green smoothie
I must admit I have been slack when it comes to making green smoothies, but this morning I threw one together from the contents in my fridge.
Approx 40 g baby spinach
2 cm cube of peeled ginger
1 apple quartered
1 pear quartered
the flesh of 1 lemon and 1 orange
a handful of ice cubes
100 ml of water
Blitz on speed 9 for 1 minute and done!
It was delicious and much better for me than a Berocca! one out of my 3 boys drank a whole glass. Hopefully if my husband and I lead by example the other 2 might be more inclined to drink one. A great way to get an extra serve of fruit and veg into your day!
A fellow consultant passed on a great tip to me. At the start of each week chop up the contents for a green smoothie and store it in individual portions in a zip lock bag in the freezer, then you don't have to worry about adding the ice, just some extra water. I'm going to give it a go!
Milling gluten free flour
A mixture of rices (I have used basmati, brown and black rices), dried chick peas and millet can be milled together on speed 9 for 1 minute to make amazing gluten free flour. The new Everyday cookbook has a great gluten free bread recipe by Cyndi O'Meara. I made it yesterday for my local cooking class last night and got rave reviews. Being gluten free has never been easier than with a Thermomix :)

Porridge
I love a bowl of porridge on a cold dark wintery morning. The Thermomix makes perfect porridge every time in 11 minutes, no stirring! Yummy with some banana and maple syrup drizzled on top :)

Welcome to my blog!
Well I have been meaning to get around to this since February this year when I embarked on my new adventure of becoming an independent Thermomix consultant, so tada, here is my blog, "Feeding the Tribe"!
I want to make it clear from the outset that I am not a nutritionist and my family is lucky enough to have no special dietary requirements. The aim of my blog and Facebook page is to give you weekly recipe planning ideas as well as healthy snacks and lunch box ideas, as well as the occasional "date night" style meal, all created in the Thermomix.
I got my Thermomix in October 2010 and it has changed my life in the kitchen. I have always been time poor and wasn't a very good or creative cook. Well that has definitely changed. Now I love to cook for my family and am constantly amazed at the delicious and creative food that I can make quickly and easily with my Thermomix!
Stay tuned for my first weekly menu plan next week :)
